AOL Broadband

AOL broadband was created sometime around the year 2003. It was created to compete with other broadband Internet services and the, at that time, more popular DSL connections. AOLÕs customer base had shrunk because they did not offer a broadband connection. Their broadband connection service at the time that they did start offering it was more expensive than competitorÕs prices which hurt them as well. However, since then they have created multiple marketing techniques and pricing options to make their service more appealing to their current and new customers. The broadband service was introduced in the UK and the US around the same time. By 2004 there were over half a million people in the UK using that service for their Internet needs. Part of this had to do with price cuts that were introduced in 2004. Since then they have continued to be one of the most popular Internet service providers in the UK.

AOL offers several different broadband packages for their customers. The basic package starts at around £14.00 per month. This includes just the broadband Internet. There are several different speeds of broadband that can be purchased as well. This particular package comes with an 8MB download speed which is very fast. There are few Internet providers that offer higher download speeds than that. There are other packages that are offered as well. There are also packages that combine the wireless Internet along with phone service. There are packages for night and weekend calls and unlimited calls. They also offers what they call ÒflexiÓ packages which require no contract of any kind. Customers just pay month by month. There are also special rates that are offered from time to time such as a lower monthly fee for the first three months. Another service that AOL offers along with their broadband is free connections and free wireless routers. It is possible to use their phone connection and Internet connection at the same time. This feature is highly useful for families and home business owners.

The service level has remarkably good reviews by current customers. Most customer reviews give AOL broadband 3-4 stars out of five. This makes them one of the most reliable and recommended Internet service providers in the UK. The speed that is offered by the service is about average of what other companies provide. The specials and free services they provide make them one of the highest rated companies for value for the money spent. The reliability of the service and product is one of their best features. The high speed connections are almost never out of commission. Customer support is about average for most other Internet service providers, but they do help out when necessary. If a piece of their equipment goes out of commission for a while, you can expect someone to be out to fix the problem within a day or two. Sometimes they are able to come out the same day. It all depends on how busy they are, where you are located, the problem that occurred, and what time of day you called in.
